Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

How about having a pillow case made to celebrate the victory of Don Juan of Austria over the Moslems at the Battle of Lepanto!

White founts falling in the courts of the sun,
And the Soldan of Byzantium is smiling as they run;
There is laughter like the fountains in that face of all men feared,
It stirs the forest darkness, the darkness of his beard,
It curls the blood-red crescent, the crescent of his lips,
For the inmost sea of all the earth is shaken with his ships.
...

Our Lady of the Rosary, ora pro nobis.

(Actually, this pillow case was made as a gift for someone's God daughter!)

Customised Pillow Case for a God daughter

A friend commissioned me to make this pillow case for her God daughter's fourth birthday.  My new super dooper sewing machine, which does so much it can almost make a cup of tea, worked hard on the embroideries.  Then I made it up into the pillow case with a lace edging. Even I was amazed at how prettily this turned out!

The symbols on the pillow relate to the little girl's patron saints, Our Lady of Grace and Therese of Lisieux, and her name is in one corner. Her God mother hopes it will be an heirloom piece for her to enjoy when she is older too.

Below are some close-up details of the embroideries.

 I hope she will enjoy resting her head on it!
